SEASONAL EVENT

Holiday Lights at Okeeheelee Park

Every holiday season, Okeeheelee Park becomes home to Lights 4 Hope, a drive-through light show with more than two miles of animated, music-synchronized displays. It's put on by a local nonprofit, and the proceeds help Palm Beach County families with a child facing a serious illness, so a night out also does some good.

What the show is like

Lights 4 Hope is a drive-through show: you stay in your car and follow a route of more than two miles through the park, past dancing lights, talking props and displays synchronized to holiday music. Highlights have included arches of dancing snowflakes and a marine-themed section with glowing sea turtles, a nod to South Florida.

Because it's a drive-through, it works for every age and doesn't depend on the weather the way a walking show does, though the organizers note that the show runs weather permitting.

When it runs

The show runs from late November through the end of December. In 2025, its eighth season, it opened on Friday, November 21, and ran through December 28; in 2024 it opened on November 29. Hours have been 6 to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 6 to 9 p.m. on Sundays and select weeknights. Not every weeknight is a show night, so check the schedule at lights4hope.org before you go.

Tickets and prices

Tickets are sold per vehicle, not per person. For the 2025 season, admission was $25 for standard cars and trucks with up to eight passengers, $35 for large vans and small buses, and $45 for large buses carrying more than 13 passengers. You can buy tickets online in advance at lights4hope.org or at the entrance. Prices are set each season, so treat these as a guide.

Where to enter

The show doesn't use Okeeheelee's main entrance. Enter through the west entrance on Eshleman Trail from Forest Hill Boulevard; the ticket booth sits just past the entrance to Shark Wake Park, and the show staging area is near the Micanopy Pavilion, after the soccer fields and before the Pooch Pines Dog Park. The park's address is 7715 Forest Hill Boulevard, West Palm Beach, FL 33413.

Bike Night

On the final night of the season, the show has opened the course to bicycles instead of cars. In 2025, Bike Night allowed up to 300 riders, with presale-only tickets at $15 per rider, check-in from 5 p.m., and helmets required for anyone 16 and under. It's a popular way to see the lights up close, and spots are limited, so buy early if it's on your list.

Who it helps

Lights 4 Hope, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that helps local families whose child is facing a terminal illness or a life-changing medical condition. Through hospital and home visits, it delivers decorations, presents and gift cards, especially during the holidays. Ticket sales and donations from the light show fund that work.

Tips for a good visit

Buy tickets online ahead of time to save time at the gate, and plan for lines on Fridays and Saturdays, the show's busiest and longest nights. Weeknight shows are usually calmer if your schedule allows. Bring holiday music, snacks and a phone charger for the wait, and keep the kids in their seats while the car is moving. Remember that the rest of Okeeheelee Park closes at sunset outside of special events, so come in through the show entrance rather than the main gate.
