BMX Track & Mountain Bike Trails
Okeeheelee is home to one of the better-known BMX tracks in the region, a dirt course built for racing and practice, alongside a separate network of paved multi-use trails that welcome anyone on two wheels — or on foot — for a lower-key ride around the park.

A serious BMX track with a local club behind it
The BMX track at Okeeheelee is run in partnership with a local BMX racing club and is built to a standard that supports sanctioned racing, not just casual dirt-jump riding — starting gate, banked turns, and a rotating series of jumps and rhythm sections typical of a competitive BMX course. Regular race nights and practice sessions bring out riders across a wide range of ages, from young kids just learning to pump a track to adult racers competing seriously. Because the track's schedule is set by the club that operates it, the best way to find open practice times or upcoming race dates is to check that club's own schedule rather than assuming the track is open at all hours.
Paved trails for everyone else
Separate from the BMX track, Okeeheelee has paved, multi-use trail segments that loop through the park's more open areas — the kind of pavement that works equally well for a road bike, a cruiser, a jogger, or a family pushing a stroller. These trails are a much lower-commitment option than the BMX track and don't require any racing experience or specialized bike; they're simply there for anyone who wants to get some exercise or see more of the park's grounds than the parking lot allows.
What to bring
BMX riders will want a helmet at minimum, and most tracks like this one require one along with basic protective gear for racing; check current track rules before a first visit if racing (rather than just watching) is the plan. For the paved trail network, a bike, comfortable shoes, and water are really all you need — like the rest of the park, there isn't much shade along open trail sections, so plan around the heat of the day, especially in summer.
